Pig’n’aif is a music project working with the Rising Records independent label based in Sheffield (UK). It is the working name for a collection of projects and bands put together and performed with over the years, by Pete Bangert and friends.

Pig’n’aif  is pronounced as Pig-an-Ayf in a typical Yorkshire accent and is an old- fashioned, surreptitious and non-blasphemous curse , (Please feel free to use it - we do often...). The name, originally born out of frustration, reflects the fact that it has often been a pig (and an ’aif) to bring these projects to fruition, or indeed to get the musicians together to play the material, but it also reflects a lighter side to things.

Pig’n’aif News

We have pre-released ‘My Amie’, an album track from our forthcoming ‘Electronicalis’ album, as a video track featuring the fanciful flight of the Pig’n’aif Logo Ship back home. ’Electronicaliis’ is one of the albums we have in production currently and is in a Prog-Electronica genre. Heavily synth based  featuring guitar synth work as well as keyboards and the normal guitar line-up. A slight departure but fully consistent with the Pig’n’aif philosophy. We’re hoping to have the full album on release sometime next year.

HandoverThis track, ‘My Amie’,  has been picked up by the guys at Factory Fast Records and will be featured on one of their forthcoming compilation albums. We’re really looking forward to that..

We were recently interviewed by Robex Lundgren for a Swedish Music Blog. That was very kind of them... Check it out here

The latest Pig’n’aif album release,  ‘Handover’ continues to do well, picking up a lot of internet attention. Why not check out the clips on the site and find out where to download the album here?

Hot, Sweet and BlueIt would appear that three of the tracks from ‘Handover’ have escaped onto three compilation albums released by our friends and colleagues at  Factory Fast Records of New York (USA).

Our  first track was ‘Oh Girl’, and was released on the compilation album

Road To The SunHot, Sweet And Blue’ in August 2015.

The second track released was
‘Dead Man Blues’ and it is featured on the ‘Road To The Sun’ released in November 2015.

The third track was ‘Cycles’, which was

‘Curtains Against the Wind’ compilation released on 12 January 2016.
We greatly appreciated all of that.

This is all exciting news and has generated some good radio play and publicity in the States and elsewhere for us. Many thanks to Brian and the guys at Factory Fast Records for their confidence in our material.

Here’s to the release of ‘My Amie’ on Factory Fast as well.

Meanwhile, back in the studio, Pete and the guys are busily at work on a number of new album projects.’Musicalis Grumpiosa’ is an impending rock album of humorous and pointed songs aimed firmly at the middle aged condition, whilst Electronicalisis to be a wider ranging prog album of hybrid electronica and guitar tracks.

There is a third album on the way which they are just calling
‘The New Album’ at the moment because they have no idea which musical direction it is going in. At the moment it is prog,  rock and blues, but isn’t everything? All of these projects have a number of finished articles already in the can and are just awaiting completion. There is also some more accompanying video on the way.

Pig'n'aif Blue-ishAs far as other peripheral projects are concerned, Pete is heavily involved in completing the definitive Phoenix Rising album ‘After The Fire’. This album is the studio version of many of the original Phoenix Rising track catalogue and is intended to complete that saga.

Pete has said that “After that point, any new Phoenix Rising-style  material will be produced back under the Pig’n’aif banner. Some of that material is already destined to end up on ‘The New Album’ “.

Our previous albums ‘Pig’n’aif Blue-ish’ and ’Pig’n’aif Blue’ continue to do well worldwide and are receiving excellent feedback. They are composed of classic blues and rock numbers from the Jam-band line-up’s set, treated with a somewhat radical Pig’n’aif twist. You will not have heard treatments like these on some of these numbers elsewhere. Please let us know what you think

The Jester... Thinks... - click for more infoAlso don’t forget to check out our previous project release,  the prog-rock album
‘The Jester... Thinks...’. It has varied tracks from the medievally influenced title track ‘The Jester’, through the blues rock ‘Gotta Be Jokin’ ‘ to the out-and-out prog rock suite of ‘Genus Holbytla’. The album deals with a number of the typical emotions we all face at sometime or other in our complex lives and is definitely a retrospective look through Pete’s life as the composer. The album also features vocals from the inimitable Mick Shedd.
